FRONT GATE REPLACEMENT PROJECT – Gregg Blake Chairman, Front Entrance Committee
At the last Chimney Cove POA meeting held in May 2019, a proposal to replace and upgrade the Front Entrance and the associated budget were presented, voted on and approved by the lot owners in attendance. Since the POA meeting, the Front Entrance Committee has reviewed and approved a design, agreed on the materials to be used for the entrance and set the timing for construction. Below is an artist rendition of the proposed Front Entrance.
The construction will begin in early January and will consist of three phases: First Phase – demolition of current Front Entrance and landscaping; Second Phase – construction of the new Front Entrance, and Third Phase – landscaping and hardgrounds. In terms of the project funding, for the cost of this project to be completed within the normal annual budget of the Chimney Cove POA, it will be necessary for all of the labor to be volunteers so we are hoping that the lot owners will want to be involved. As previously mentioned, the construction of the Front Entrance will start next month in January and the whole project should not take more than approximately 3 – 4 weekends depending on weather.
We will be sending out an email asking for volunteers in the near future once we have the finalized schedule set for the project. We will need the most volunteer help in Phase One – demolition of the Front Entrance and the removal of the current vegetation and flower beds; and the Third Phase – Landscaping. We hope that everyone will be interested in this project to improve the entrance to Chimney Cove.
